On behalf of Ecurie Royal Oak Motor Club Limited I am delighted to welcome you to our first multi use rally at Swynnerton Army Training Camp in Staffordshire. Several ERO members have been working hard to secure the use of this venue for many years and after successful use on historic rallys such as The Rally of the Tests, The Tour of Cheshire and Tour Britannia, they have finally achieved permission to use the superb network of roads within the camp for a modern stage rally. The rally route will be 100% clean tarmac run within the confines of the training area. The roads are constantly in use and are kept in first class repair. The venue has a mixture of fast straights and fast flowing, undulating bends which will create a memorable days rallying. We are planning to run 10 stages with a total mileage of approximately 65 miles. However a word of caution, there are kerbs and within those kerbs are steel drainage grids which will damage a wheel instantly. Also we would warn competitors not to attempt to cut corners or drive on grass areas as empty 5.56mm blank ammunition cases cause instant punctures as we have found to our cost. All tarmac areas will be swept prior to the rally but this can not be done in grassed areas. Whilst driving within the camp all traffic must drive on the right as the site roads are run under continental regulations and the road signage within the camp is also continental. This will only effect competitors on the run out to the stage start which is approximately 1 mile away from the service area. This is an active training facility and consequently no spectators will be allowed, a rule that will be rigorously enforced by the army themselves. Unfortunately there are no viewing areas whatsoever. Parking will also be extremely limited. However we will be looking for as many marshals as we can get. More details will be available shortly.
